Scent inquiry
Okay, this may sound weird, but I'm trying to get down what the main characters in my novel, well, smell like. Ya know, the scent that carries with them. Whether it's vanilla or pure "manliness", whatever.

So, I'm curious... What is *your* favorite scent on the gender(s) that you're attracted? Even still, if you like a certain scent on one that you're *not* attracted to, by all means, shoot that out too! I'd make a poll, but I don't want to limit you, so comment away!

On men, it depends. Usually just their general aftershave Old Spice kinda deal. Just something spicy and earthy.

Women I tend towards Vanilla, sweet flowers, anything spicy and earthy (like Lavender).

I like the scent of vanilla on women. Maybe that;s why I wear it. Uh, When someone isn't wearing any perfume or cologne and they have this ....natural smell, thats kind of hot too.

Mostly people in their natural, unscented state smell of sweat or what they last ate.

Otherwise, it depends what time it is. In the morning men smell of too much aftershave, and women of too much perfume. In the late drowsy afternoons, they can smell of sun-warmed skin and clean hair and vaguely fruity, vaguely jasmine, vaguely spicy yum.

If it's for your characters, go down to the department store and start sniffing perfume samples. Pick a distinct one for each of your characters, write it down somewhere, and refer back to it. For long-haired characters, pick a smell for shampoo, too.

And, so help me god, if you pull a LKH and refer to people as having vanilla scented skin every two pages, I'm going to shoot you. For your own good.

Oh, and my *favourite* smells, since this is what you actually asked, are spicy and cool. I love Calvin Klein 'Contradiction'. I also love jasmine.

What I hate are the flowery, stifly smells that smell like old ladies' talc and rooms which don't get dusted often.

HA. I will not be pulling any "Nathaniel descriptions" out, I promise!

This is a once, maaaaaybe twice a book thing. And really, only if it makes sense to the scene. I don't believe in uber description every five seconds so I can sound pretty.

I like fruity smells on guys (okay that sounded different than I intended). Not girly fruity, but like a hint of citrus. The smell of leather is good, too. And of course, natural pheramone smell is sexy.

Specifically I love Escape and Axe's Tsunami.

I hate anything musk or floral.

On women, vanilla is great. I also love pear, even if all the strippers wear it. My favorite is vanilla-pear, which is what I wear.

That makes you an Uber stripper!

I'd pay to see ya dance babay! :Þ

Since Summer got that stripping workout for us to do, Rowdy wants to set up a pole and a stage in our garage so he have guys over to watch us "workout".

Just bring a lot of ones.

Smell is definitely an attraction "getter."
I just discovered this manly smell at the Co-op called Herbian Cowboy Dusk. Good God. Makes me melt into a puddle of desire...
I prefer to wear Gardenia. Cause it's the bestest.

But I have to say that light scent is also good for no one likes to smell someone who has drowned themselves in a bottle of cologne/perfume/lotion. I have also heard that if you were a citrus smell that a member of the opposite sex will look at you ten pounds lighter...how that works I'm not sure.

Chanel #5, on women. Old Spice anti-perspirant/deoderant, on either sex. Also, plain old Head and Shoulders shampoo. It makes me want to eat people's hair.

GAH!!! That's all I can say to Old Spice, to me, it just smells like BO.

Dislike: Overpowering old lady floral

Like: Apple Cinnamon, Tommy Girl, Orange

Sorry, no input on guys, I don't really go around smelling them or taking note of what they smell like if I happen to get a whiff.
