Vamps in love (Miggy)

Are you sure you love him? ... Really sure? I don't believe you.

I finished Persuasion by Jane Austen yesterday.

It was... okay. It was a pretty fast read, but nothing really... catching. For one thing, the love lost between the two characters is touched on, but never much gone into. 'My daddy and good friend told me this guy sucks, so I'm gonna tell him to screw off. It's tragic and stuff!'

So, eight years later (oh, and a HALF. Yes, they make sure that that HALF is brought up every time) and they meet. *GASP* Umm... Okay, groovy and all, but the sexual tension? Not cuttable by a knife. I'd say about 3% of the book had them both in it together at the same place/time. The rest was about other people. Other romances, some triangles, an intrigue here and there. And it wasn't bad. It just wasn't... Well, I just didn't care about the "main plot".

Perhaps if I'd of been given more time with the two characters in question together, I could've grown to care. But the only things I wound up really getting into were: Mary getting bitch-slapped by her husband, Anne telling her family and friends to bite her and that she can make her own decisions thank-you-very-much... and that's about it. Sadly, neither of these things happened, but what can you do?

However, since I didn't hate the book, I will have to re-assess my great dislike of Ms. Austen. I don't plan on grabbing another novel from her, but I won't wrinkle my nose and 'bleh' at them either.

Onto books I'm currently reading! Yay!

To replace the one described above, I'm going back to Piers Anthony for a spell with Pet Peeve. I love Xanth. I do! But man, nostalgia aside, I'm really starting to tire of the formula. I swear, if I have to visit Magician Humphrey's castle for three challenges one more time...

My house book is Vampires and the City by Kerrelyn Sparks. It's just 'okay' as well. If the main male character didn't feel like a stalker I might be more into him getting it on with the main character lady vamp. *Shrug* We'll see if it grows on me.

Well, I'm off to go do not much of anything at work now! *Waves*
