Well, uh, I guess if you really hated the cash... and didn't want to use a credit/debit card (even though 99% of them take them)... then sure! Why not!

But as for the perfect gift part, I was more talking about the rechargeable aspect that gets me. Gift cards in and of themselves are fine. In fact, hey, I love gift cards. But then recharging the card to give to someone else? Seems tacky. And well, we discussed the other alternative above.

It is tacky! It's like regifting, but worse, since at least with regifting there's a chance that the recipient won't know that it's a regift. If you give them a used gift card, they will definitely know.
