So, this morning was a rather interesting ride as I took Rufus III out for the work commute in unexpected snow/ice. (Yup, no sanded or salted roads. Pure suck.)
I had no idea you could actually slip on the road while going straight! Seriously, the only time I'd have troubles with traction with Carlita was on turns.
With Rufus, I was spinning out of control every few seconds. It was absolute hell.
No, I didn't hit someone/something. I know you're shocked.
Yes, I do plan on taking him to Wal-Mart after work and purchasing two big bags of salt to put in the trunk on top of the tires.
As for the snow tires... gods, Idaho is so weird with our winters that I'm not sure I really should put the tires on yet. I mean, if it's suddenly dry, I'll be wearing the tires and wrecking the roads... but when does one know to put the suckers on in the first place?
In other news, I saw View From the Top... and was so pissed off at the end of the movie that pirateday was starting to wonder if I'd ever shut up. I'm honestly not sure what this movie was supposed to be doing, but it sure as hell didn't placate the feminist in me with their 'bone' they threw me after the curve ball of suck.
In even more other news, against ninjadebugger's protests, I went ahead and read Ill Wind by Rachel Caine. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was the most awesome book ever, but it was good enough that I took it out of my car to read at work and finished it at home.
The door was, of course, open for a series to take place, but I could definitely stop at Book One and feel good about where it took me. Now, will my curiosity catch up and make me buy book two, even though Ninja would likely shake his head at me with an 'I told you so'? Probably. But at least I'll be prepared for it being meh!
